Poedjo Soesilotomo or Tom graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree (Hons) in Civil Engineering in 1988 from UTM. He worked for an MNC as a Project Controller in charge of the KK International Airport Lighting Project for which he was responsible for the cashflow planning as well as overall site management. His keen interest in Financial Planning and Services led him to pursue the ChFP-8 Module course in 1997 to upgrade his knowledge in financial planning and was awarded the designation in June of 2002. He was conferred the CFP designation in 2003 and is the Managing Director of ATA Capital Sdn Bhd (ATA) and has set his sights to venture into Islamic Financial Planning to fulfill the needs of the Muslim community.

ATA has also been appointed to promote and market an Islamic Financial Planning Certificate course as well as conventional financial planning related courses and software to both the Financial Planning Practitioners as well as the general public in the state of Sabah. ATA believes that it is vital for a Financial Planner who practices in Malaysia to go through an Islamic Financial Planning course so that he may provide the best advice to his Muslim clients.

As Financial Planning is a process, ATA also believes that technology can assist Financial Planners cut short certain steps which involve financial calculations and formulas. At the same time, technology enables one’s financial situation to be portrayed in pictorial form ie tables, graphs and charts for as they say “a picture is worth a thousand words”. From the charts and financial ratios generated indicating one’s present financial situation, the Financial Planner or Advisor would then make recommendations to improve the client’s financial situation based on the client’s needs and goals. The final decision however still lies with the client.

ATA has forged strategic alliances with other professionals in the financial services industry such as Accountants, Tax Advisors, Investment Advisors, Asset Management Companies, Real Estate Agencies, a Will-Writing company, a Land Banking Investment company, Islamic Financial Planning Consultants etc so as to provide a comprehensive and wide range of solution in terms of advice and products to fulfill one’s needs in both personal and business areas.
